Men have a pelvic floor too
The pelvic floor is mostly talked about in connection with pregnancy. Men have one too, and it affects the bladder, after-dribble and sexual function.

What it does in men
The pelvic floor sits like a bowl at the bottom of the pelvis, between the pubic bone and the tailbone. In men it surrounds the urethra and the rectum and supports the bladder and the prostate.
The muscles help you stay dry and empty the urethra when you have finished peeing. They are also part of the erection. Like all muscles they get weaker if they are not used, and they can be trained.
After-dribble, the common problem nobody talks about
You have finished peeing, zipped up your trousers and then a few more drops come out. This is called after-dribble. It happens because a little urine stays in the urethra and leaks out afterwards.
It is common, especially with age, and usually harmless. It can often be reduced.
Other signs of a weak pelvic floor
- You leak when you cough, lift or exercise.
- You are in a hurry to get to the toilet and don't always make it.
- You pee often, including at night.
- Your erection is weaker than before.
Several of these problems can also be caused by the prostate, diabetes, medication or something else. That is why it is important to have them checked.
After prostate surgery
Leakage is common after the prostate has been removed. Part of what used to help keep you dry disappears with the operation, and the pelvic floor has to do more of the work. Many men are advised to train the pelvic floor, ideally with support from a continence nurse or physiotherapist.
INSCULPT Chair has its own programme for the time after surgery. You start only once your doctor has given the go-ahead.
Train sitting down, fully clothed
Many men find Kegel exercises hard to get started with. It is difficult to know if you are doing them right, and easy to forget.
In INSCULPT Chair you sit fully clothed for about 30 minutes while an electromagnetic field activates the pelvic floor with around 12,000 contractions. There are programmes for bladder control, after-dribble, prostate health and sexual function.
It does not hurt. It tingles and you feel strong contractions, and the intensity is increased step by step. You can go straight back to work afterwards. A course is usually 10 treatments, 2 times a week.
If you have a pacemaker or other electronic implants, or metal implants near the pelvis, you should not use the chair. The clinic goes through a health questionnaire with you before the first session.
When to seek care
See your doctor if your stream gets weaker, if you find it hard to empty your bladder, if you need to pee often at night or if you have pain. Seek care straight away if you have blood in your urine, a fever or cannot pee at all.
Book a session in peace
Find a clinic near you in Sweden or Norway with INSCULPT Chair. You stay fully clothed, and you don't need to explain more than you want to.
